come together for a Sing-Along Party

We're proud that Household Harmony Sing-Along Parties were nominated again for a Nickelodeon Parents' Picks Award. 2010 voting is closed, and the winners will be announced on September 15!

Looking for a relaxed, fun way to celebrate a birthday or other occasion? A sing-along party offers a great opportunity for a mixed-age group to create a unique experience together. People of all ages--babies, toddlers, kindergarteners and grownups--can participate musically according to their own interests and abilities.

You can enclose this note with the invitations to let your guests know what they can look forward to doing at the party, and also to tell them how much the Guest of Honor loves making music (as well as music-making gifts). When guests arrive knowing that everybody will participate, the experience is especially fun for everyone.

A basic 45-minute music-making session for kids and adults costs $125, and a group of 14 or fewer children with at least one adult per child/siblings is ideal. We bring all the instruments and music along with us, and host families are also given 14 copies of the Music Together "Welcome CD" to distribute to guests as party favors! For many reasons, "Happy Birthday to You" is a real favorite of Household Harmony's.

Some people arrange for their parties to take place at neutral locations (restaurants' private rooms are popular spots, for example, as are community centers and outdoor pavilions), and some families hold their parties at home. Either type of place is fine (unless you have dogs, cats, etc. at home, because our sing-along leader's dander allergies unfortunately preclude the at-home option in that case).

Everybody gathers in a circle on the floor, or grass, for the sing-along, and dancing is a key ingredient of any music-making session so it's important that there be some movement space for the group. It's generally best to have the music-making portion of the party at the beginning (before breaking out a cake, unwrapping presents, etc.).

Please feel free to contact us for more information about hosting your own Household Harmony party. Or grab your slippers and join us for one of our FREE pajamas-optional 'Jammie Jam family sing-along events!

I just wanted to thank you for the birthday party. Everyone loved it and said what fun they and their kids had. Even folks who take Music Together classess elsewhere, remarked on how great you were with all the kids! --EC's Mom

Our Household Harmony birthday party was the perfect way to celebrate our son Jackson's 1st birthday. It was the perfect way to include our many friends' children ranging in ages from 3 weeks old to 5 years old! Everyone enjoyed themselves so much as a result of Daisy's wonderful interactions with all of the children, but most of all Jackson had a wonderful time! --Jackson's Mom

We hosted our son Bear's Household Harmony birthday party in the "VIP Room" at Panera, and it was the perfect entertainment for a bunch of 3-year-olds and 83-year-olds--especially in November, when we needed to plan an indoor activity. The grown-up small talk stopped the moment Daisy launched into The Hello Song and everyone began shaking the instruments, banging on the pots and pans, singing and dancing. Three memories stand out: 1) Bear announcing it was the "funnest" party he'd ever had, 2) my father laughing so hard he almost cried while shaking bells on his toes, and 3) my father-in-law assuring me it was the first child's birthday party he'd been to that was truly for kids. It was a wonderful experience, and I highly recommend it to parents who want to break the ice among a mix of neighbors, family members, babies and preschoolers. It's a guaranteed way to make sure that everyone has fun (without the stress and sweat of being the host, gym teacher, clown, etc.)! --Bear's Mama

Thank you so much for entertaining all those kids at [our son]’s party! You did a fabulous job! They had a great time, as did we, and it was such a nice alternative to the standard birthday fare. [Our son] felt special and celebrated.  --C.'s Mom
